I had a major migraine attack this week that knocked me out of commission completely. I had a headache on and off for a week, and had taken all the Imitrex that I was allowed to. It just wouldn’t go away. I finally had to go to the doctor, and she gave me a “cocktail” shot that really did the trick. Narcotic, anti-inflammatory, steroids and anti-nausea. Five shots in all, but I was cured. I went to bed at 4:30 pm and woke up the next morning at 7:00 am, feeling fine.
My migraines are mainly triggered by two things: changes in the weather (barometric pressure, I guess) and changes in my hormone levels. This time, it was the hormones that got me. I’ve had severe migraines before, but never one that lasted this long and was this hard to get rid of.
I hope this isn’t a new trend.
